I decided to use a third normal in the blue channel for tire tracks, so I have the pavement normal, snow normal, and now I can paint the tire track normals over the snow! Progress!&lt;/p&gt;

Wrote the snowing material and by accident made it look exactly how I wanted. Wrote a vertex material for snow painting/blending (in use on the pavement) that I’m excited about. I can apply it to the rest of the scene too and hopefully make things look snow as fuck.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;And on a general note, some things have changed. I have a new project I’m working on. Hopefully the blog will forgive me for my absence. I think it’ll be a good way to keep myself motivated.&lt;/p&gt;

I'm working on a modern styled roguelike thing and I ran into some limitations with UDK, and I'm sure I'd run into the same with Source.  Found some good help with Unity.  At the moment I'm working on creating tile-based dungeons out of pre-created tiles, and it's been interesting.  I'm not a programmer, of course, so there's something.  But I'm becoming one.&lt;br /&gt;&#13;

Unreal engine games, with the exception of one (Borderlands) ran poorly on my slightly older laptop (it was 3 years old.  Source and Unity games run smooth - of course Unity can run in a browser so you got that.&lt;br /&gt;&#13;
